The first two rows are a Las Vegas cost guide. The middle rows are a Las Vegas real estate brokerage's estimates for a new system by efficiency. They don't cite a source and say the furnace can add to the price, so treat them as a rough guide. The last two are national. Rooftop package units
A lot of older Vegas homes don't have a split system. They have a package unit on the roof, often a "gas pack" with the AC and gas heat in one box. A Las Vegas HVAC company says many homes built before or in the early 2000s, plus many condos, have the AC on the roof, and replacing one takes a crane.

- They wear out faster. A Las Vegas plumbing and HVAC company puts rooftop package units at 10 to 14 years because of direct sun.
- Ask about the curb. If the new unit doesn't fit the old roof curb, you need an adapter or a rebuilt curb. Ask whether it's in the quote.
- Ask about the crane. Nationally, a crane runs $400 to $1,500. Make sure it's in the quote, not a surprise on the invoice.
Replace both at once?
- Matched parts work better. AHRI and Lennox say a new outdoor unit paired with an old indoor coil or furnace can miss its rated efficiency and wear out early. Lennox says a matched system is covered under one warranty.
- One job instead of two. A Las Vegas HVAC company says doing both at once means one trip and one crew, and less total labor.
- When it makes sense: local companies put AC life here at about 10 to 15 years. Furnace estimates vary a lot, from 12 to 15 years to 20 years or more, since they run much less here. If your furnace is near the age of your AC, get a quote for both alongside a quote for the AC alone.
- Get two quotes. In one r/vegaslocals thread, a Summerlin homeowner with a 1,400 sq ft home was quoted $13,000 and $8,000 for the same AC and furnace job.
What's included and extra
Trane says its installed prices include the unit, labor, basic accessories, removing and disposing of the old unit, flushing or replacing the line set, reconnecting gas and ducts, and testing. The thermostat isn't included. Ask about each of these in writing:

Permits, rebates and refrigerant
- Permits: Clark County's simple online permits cover AC and furnace replacement, but it's one appliance per permit, so an AC plus a furnace is two permits. We couldn't confirm the current fee. Your contractor usually pulls them.
- Tax credit: gone. The IRS says the 25C credit doesn't apply to anything installed after December 31, 2025.
- Utility rebates: NV Energy's 2026 rebate sheet lists duct sealing and insulation, not AC or heat pump equipment. Southwest Gas's 2026 Nevada form has no furnace rebate. More in AC rebates in Southern Nevada.
- Refrigerant: most new systems use R-454B or R-32. An EPA rule effective July 27, 2026 lets R-410A units made before 2025 still be installed. Details in AC size, SEER2 and refrigerants.
